GUCCI was founded in 1921 in Florence, initially producing quality leather luggage. During the Second World War, while a lot of materials were not in stock, Guccio Gucci started exploring alternative materials such as cotton and hemp. Towards the end of the war, he created a method using a bamboo cane to create a strong handbag handle. Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Diana carried these bags as one of their favourites. Currently known for its sex appeal and craftsmanship under the creative direction of Tom Ford and Frida Giannini, with Alessandro Michele newly at the helm, Gucci is set to enter a new chapter.
